I am an Addict

Hello. My name is Kevin and I am an addict.

Cigarettes used to be something I used socially but lately its been getting out of hand. Make no mistake...it IS an addiction.

Lately there's this spate of horrifying pics being advertised as part of the government's effort to quell this addiction.

Here's the thing about addiction...the addict does not register hers/his habit as a BAD ADDICTION but rather console themselves by labelling it a BAD HABIT. Ciggy companies have conceded to the BAD HABIT part to a certain extent but are still fighting tooth and nail to it being an addiction. Do you think putting a pic of some poor soul's badly damaged throat/lungs or gangrenous leg is really going to put off the ciggy addict? Hardly.

It'll probably put off the non-smokers off smoking and thats cool to prevent them from even starting but for the addicts?

Yes you would have heard of some great grandmother who started smoking when she was 10 and is still ploughing the family padi field in her 90s but even that has to wear thin sometime.

So lets call a spade a spade and declare it as an addiction..I know I have. Excuse me while i lite up.
